OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Beam Network is looking for an experienced and proactive community and member engagement specialist to join our small team. You will be responsible for ensuring Beam members get an excellent experience and ultimately continue to renew their membership annually. The Director operates on two levels to achieve this goal:

 

  1. At the community level, they are responsible for creating an outstanding experience for members in peer learning and community-wide events, including retreats, dinners, and other activities where members come together to learn and feel part of a community. The Director creates opportunities for connection and ensures the community remains a safe and inclusive space for members that fits seamlessly into their daily lives. They also look for ways to activate the network for targeted advocacy activities.
     

  2. At the individual member level, they are responsible for ensuring each member receives the support they need to achieve their goals, serving as a guide on their journey to financial empowerment. The Director will be an invaluable resource and confidant, highlighting opportunities for members to develop their skills and troubleshooting issues alongside them. 

 

Together with the team you will shape and drive forward our member engagement strategy, including planning community events, dinners, and other touchpoints. 

 

This role requires experience managing a high-end membership community; an intelligent curiosity; strong administrative and organisational capabilities; excellent communication skills and the confidence, gravitas and cultural sensitivity to engage with people at all levels, across different geographies. Our work environment is fast-paced, informal, collaborative and professional and involves a high degree of independent working. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategy: sets strategic direction for all member and community-wide engagement, establishing and executing on an annual plan.
     

  • Member Support: provides personalised, 1-1 support to members, handles 6-month and annual check-ins, records touchpoints in CRM and monitors member progress against goals.

 

  • Events and Programmes: develops and manages execution of all member-facing programmes and events, including retreats, dinners, members lounges, etc. Collaborates to ensure seamless execution of academic programming, including Foundations, Building Blocks and Study Sessions.

 

  • Member Operations: Oversees quality of all backend member operations, including member payments, renewals, event RSVP, etc. Ensures the learning platform is being used effectively to meet member needs. 

 

  • Feedback and Quality: Administers and tracks results of member surveys (baseline and annual check in), reporting results and key metrics to leadership. Solicits individual member feedback on experience and develops plans to address issues.

 

  • Content Development: Creates guides and other tools, based on the Beam’s academic content, to support members’ learning and development. Oversees the curation of the member resources section of the learning platform.
     

  • Partnerships: Develops strategic partnerships with other organisations where these can provide value for members that enhances their experience with The Beam. Also sources speakers and faculty where this can enhance programming. 

 

  • Advocacy: Looks for opportunities to leverage the collective voice and influence of The Beam membership (i.e. Assets Under Education) to advocate for specific changes in the finance industry. Develops an advocacy strategy and plan that is realistic and achievable, and preserves The Beam’s relationship with finance industry partners. 

NICE-TO-HAVES
  • Experience working with a membership-based organisation or private members club providing high-end service at both a community and individual member level

  • Experience with high-end/luxury brands where top-level service is a must

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL PREFERABLY HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:  
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in member and community management working with high-end clients

  • Comfortable in an entrepreneurial and nimble environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adept at relationship management, active listening

  • Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles.

  • Able to work both independently and in a collaborative setting, and willing to work from home with limited supervision. 

  • Capable of managing multiple projects at once, prioritising and problem-solving.

  • Strong attention to detail.
